Although the Covid-19 crisis ended my fellowship prematurely, I am satisfied with the progress I was able to make while in Scotland. I have done my best to compile the results of my experience in the creation of a guide for place-based art education.
The following guide offers options for teachers and community organizations to utilize place-based methods in their teaching and community experiences. Included here are art-related place-based lessons, ideas about the pedagogy of place- and community-based education, museum and community organization collaboration, and ideas for students to become empowered community members. These notions strive to bring education out of the confines of the school walls and connect to the broader population in the hopes that this engagement will make positive change in a rural community.
